Cookie policy

One essential cookie. No analytics. No pixels.

This is the short cookie policy for sirchristophernevile.org. It is short on purpose.

Last updated · May 2026 · v1.1

In short

  • We use one essential cookie. It contains no personal data.
  • We do not use Google Analytics or any third-party tracking.
  • We do not place a marketing pixel of any kind.
  • You can decline the cookie banner; the site will still work in full.
  • You can clear cookies at any time in your browser settings.

What is a cookie?

A cookie is a small text file that a website stores on your device. Cookies are used for many purposes — some essential (remembering that you are logged in, or that you have dismissed a notice), some non-essential (analytics, advertising, personalisation).

The one cookie we use

Name Type Purpose Retention
scn-cookies-dismissed Essential (localStorage) Records whether you have accepted or declined the cookie banner. Until you clear your browser storage.

The cookie above is, strictly speaking, an entry in your browser's localStorage rather than a traditional cookie. We use localStorage rather than a true cookie because it is simpler, contains no personal data, and is not sent to our server with each request.

Cookies we deliberately do not use

  • Google Analytics, Plausible, Fathom, or any other analytics platform.
  • Facebook Pixel, Google Ads pixel, or any other advertising tracker.
  • Marketing-automation pixels (Mailchimp tracking pixels, Hubspot, etc.).
  • Heatmap or session-recording tools (Hotjar, FullStory, etc.).
  • Social-media-embed tracking (we use plain links to social pages, not embedded widgets).

Third-party services we link to

Three external services may set cookies in your browser if you choose to use them:

  • OpenStreetMap, the map embed on our contact page. OpenStreetMap may use cookies for its own service operation. See OpenStreetMap Foundation privacy policy.
  • Google Fonts, which serves the typefaces used on this site. Google's font CDN does not set cookies but logs request IPs briefly.
  • Cloudflare CDN, which serves the Font Awesome icon set and the Tailwind CSS framework. Cloudflare may set a session cookie strictly for security purposes.

How to manage cookies

Most browsers let you control cookies through their settings. You can also clear localStorage in your browser's developer tools. If you want to refuse our cookie banner, click 'Decline' when it appears; the cookie banner will not return for the duration of your localStorage retention.

Changes to this policy

If we ever add another cookie — for example a future analytics tool — we will update this page, change the 'last updated' date, and surface a fresh cookie-banner consent prompt. Our current commitment is to keep this site free of analytics and marketing pixels.

How to complain

If you have a concern about our use of cookies, please write to [email protected]. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or by telephone on 0303 123 1113.
